Comparing the “Stans”
There are seven countries in the world that end in “-stan” and each is located on the continent of Asia. The suffix “–stan” is derived from a Persian word that means “land”.
The seven countries in alphabetical order are: Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Step by Step instructions:
- 1. Log into the website
- 2. Scroll down the page until you see “All Asian countries” (blue links)
- 3. Click on the name of the “-Stan” country and go to the country page
- 4. Select “Facts” link (also in blue)
- 5. Copy data from “Fast Facts” (exports and agriculture are on the bottom of the page)
- 6. Collect data for at least 2 of the Stans: we will be sharing data and using data to draw asumptions in class tomorrow.
